Zoom Settings

Zoom: Original Sound for Musicians 

By default, Zoom uses noise suppression and echo cancellation improve the quality of audio received by your microphone.  You will need to disable these audio filters in order for your microphone to capture the sound of your piano, or I will not be able to hear your playing.  

Choose the device that you will use to join, then follow the step-by-step instructions.

Windows | macOS

  • Sign in to the Zoom Desktop client 
  • Click your profile picture, then click Settings. 
  • Click the Audio tab.
  • Under the Audio Profile section, select Original sound for musicians. 

Android | iOS

  • Sign in to the Zoom mobile app.
  • In the bottom-right corner, tap More…
  • Under Settings, tap Meetings.
  • Under Audio, tap the toggle next to Use Original Audio.

Once enabled in settings, this can be toggled on and off during live meetings as needed.

Zoom Web App

  • Join a meeting using the Zoom Web App or web client
  • In the control toolbar, click Settings. 
  • Click the Audio tab.
  • Under the Audio Profile section, select Zoom optimized audio.
  • Select On or Off if you wish to turn on or off Background Noise Suppression.
